Storyline: Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, this film stars one of my favorite actresses, the always wonderful Toni Collette, and Monica Bellucci, breaking away from her traditional serious roles. I love that the film leans towards campy comedy, never taking itself too seriously. Mafia Mamma R. Christine has had her whole life with a son going to college, a horrible boss, and a husband she recently discovered is cheating on her. To add to Christine’s troubles, she is told that her grandfather has died, and is requested to attend his funeral in Italy. Collette plays Kristin as a dumb American who leaves her cheating husband and literally steps off a plane and begins a relationship with an Italian man she meets in a cab line. Mafia Mamma is a movie directed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, where it’s never revealed what kind of movie it is, except that it’s not funny.
